National Competitors

All competitors who are qualified and going to be competing in any of the CBBF National events are now required to complete a SABBA National Event Registration form and send it in to the SABBA office at least 6 weeks prior to the competition.  This insures SABBA the opportunity to arrange for track suits for all SABBA competitors  and to pay your entry fees.  If you have not pre-registered with the SABBA office prior to the event, your fees will not be covered by SABBA.  SABBA will only be covering the cost of entry fees for one class, if you are entering more than one class (eg. Classic Bodybuilding Competition Information

Men’s Classic Bodybuilding was officially recognized as a new sport discipline by the IFBB Executive Council and IFBB Congress on November 27, 2005 (Shanghai, China).

Classic Bodybuilding responds to the increasing worldwide demand for competitions for men who prefer, unlike today’s current bodybuilders, to develop a less muscular, yet athletic and aesthetically pleasing physique.

Men’s Classic Bodybuilding consists of the following three rounds:

  1. Prejudging: Round 1 - Quarter Turns and Mandatory Poses.
  2. Finals: Round 2 - Posing Routine
  3. Finals: Round 3 - Mandatory Poses and Posedown

In numerical order, and in groups of not more than five competitors at a time, each group is directed to the centre stage area to perform the following four Mandatory Poses:

  1. Front Double Biceps
  2. Side Chest
  3. Back Double Biceps
  4. Abdominals and Thighs

Men's Classic Bodybuilding Short
Up to and including 170cm
Height (cm) – 100cm + 2kg = ______ kg Max you can weigh for class

Men's Classic Bodybuilding Medium
Up to and including 175cm
Height (cm) – 100cm + 4kg = ______ kg Max you can weigh for class

Men's Classic Bodybuilding Medium-Tall

Height (cm) – 100cm + 6kg = ______ kg Max you can weigh for class

Men's Classic Bodybuilding Tall Over 180cm

  1. Up to and including 190cm
Height (cm) – 100cm + 8kg = ______ kg Max you can weigh for class
  2. Up to and including 198cm
Height (cm) – 100cm + 9kg = _______ kg Max you can weigh for class
  3. Over 198cm
Height (cm) – 100cm + 10kg = ______ kg Max you can weigh for class

Example: A bodybuilder is 5’ 8” or 172.72cm. This will put him in the Medium Class Height
172(cm) – 100cm + 4kg = 76 kg (167lb) Max you can weigh for class.

All competitors over 180 cm, (1, 2 & 3) shall compete in the Over 180 cm category.

Men can enter both the Classic and a weight class (Bodybuilding) (two entre fees required)

Fitness Competition Information

The fitness competition will consist of three (3) rounds:

Round One (the Physique Round) - two piece bikini and heels
The Physique Round will be judged on overall athleticism with regard to symmetry, firmness and proportion as well as overall physical appearance including skin tone, poise, physical beauty and femininity and overall presentation. Remember, this is not a bodybuilding class; competitors exhibiting extreme vascularity, size and definition often seen in bodybuilding will be marked down.

Competitors will wear a two-piece bikini and high-heels during the preliminary assessment round, the bikini round, and the bikini portion of the final round. The color and style of the bikini and high-heels (platform shoes are permitted) will be left to the competitor’s discretion.

Round Two (the Routine Round) - maximum two (2) minutes (to music)
Routines will be judged on a combination of athleticism (including strength, flexibility, and endurance), style, personality and showmanship. Gymnastics and dance are encouraged.  There are no required moves for the routine round. However, the following moves are extremely common amongst competitors: sideways splits, front splits, one arm push-ups, V-split presshold, straight leg press hold, high kick to the front with hold.  Props are prohibited in the fitness routine.

Round Three (Final Comparisons) - two piece bikini and heels
The finalists will be called out on stage for a final comparison. Fitness competitors are required to wear a two-piece swimsuit and high heel shoes. The color of the suit is left to the judgment of the competitor, however it must cover the breast and buttock area. No G-strings are allowed. The head judge will direct the finalists through the comparison round.

Physique Round 1 - Quarter Turns

  • Athletes will wear bikini and platform heels
  • Bikini top must cover 1/2 of the breast
  • Bottoms should cover 1/2 of the butt
  • Bikini may be attached in the back only
  • G-STRINGS OR THONGS ARE PROHIBITED
Round 2 - Athletic performance round to music

Figure Competition Information

*** Important Figure Announcement! ***
There will only be two judged rounds in the Figure category at the Novice and Provincial levels. These rounds will be the two piece black posing suit round, and the one piece color of your choice posing suit round. Note that at the National level, a third round is used, and that is a two piece color of your choice posing suit.

The figure competition is considered a new discipline in response to the demand for fitness competition without the need to perform a routine round. In figure, the emphasis is placed on aesthetics - beauty combined with an athletic physique. The figure competition will consist of three (3) rounds:

Round One - two piece bikini with high heels
In the two piece bikini round the physique is judged on overall athletic appearance, muscle tone, with a low amount of body fat. Extreme muscularity and leanness will be marked down.

Round Two - swimsuit with high heels
In the one piece swimsuit round the physique is being judged using the same criteria as for the two piece bikini round. Note that the judges must be mindful of the fact that a competitor may present a different "total package" while wearing a one piece with high heels as opposed to a two piece bikini with heels and therefore must be judged with a fresh perspective.

Round Three (finals) - two piece bikini with high heels
The top 15 finalists from the prejudging will proceed to the finals which will consist of one (1) round in a two piece bikini.
